Our Goal - a new Restoration Shop Facility in 2026
The mission of the Gopher State Railway Museum is to educate the public through collection, preservation, restoration, display and operation of railroad equipment and artifacts.
Since the museum opened to the public in 2014, it has been fulfilling its mission by offering visitors a short ride on GSRM's historic locomotive and caboose and guiding visitors through the museum's various static displays.
To keep growing, GSRM needs an all weather, indoor workspace to facilitate restoration and conservation of historic pieces such as 1880 StPM&M Pullman office car Manitoba, 1871 CB&Q drovers car 14534 and 1940 EMC diesel-electric locomotive NSP4.
Our goal is to begin construction of a steel framed, two-track restoration facility in mid-2026, but we can't do it alone - we need YOUR help!!
The estimated cost for the first phase of our construction project is approximately $300,000. We've already raised $6000, but we still have a long way to go.
We need this project to continue to grow and provide a viable contribution to the local community.
